Story
A sequel that sees Riley entering puberty and experiencing entirely new, more complex emotions as a result. As Riley tries to adjust to her teenage years, her old feelings try to adjust to the possibility of being replaced.. Phyllis Smith came out of retirement to reprise her role as Sadness for Inside Out 2. in Missouri, since she had no intention of traveling all the way to Los Angeles just for that.. As Riley gets older, her feelings are more complex, thus introducing new characters (emotions).

However, wouldn’t that mean that her parents (and potentially other adults), who had matured and developed even more, would not only have these emotions in their control rooms, but even more emotions? There is a flash of angst during the check-out scene with both parents, but nothing more. Or hidden like Riley’s
Nostalgia? It was the same in the previous film, when the adults' The control rooms appeared to be just as developed as the children’s and had the same number of emotions. Although, to be clear, the aforementioned scene in the middle of the checkout credits heavily implies that angst and other new emotions end up being held in place by the main five emotions and only occasionally appear to express their concerns, which explains their complete absence from the first film.
