Story
Art the Clown is set to unleash chaos on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they peacefully drift off to sleep on Christmas Eve
Director Damien Leone said that several big studios showed interest in financing this movie based on the unexpected success of Terrifier 2 ( 2022), even without a full script, but he turned them all down because he is certain that they would never let him film the opening scene alone, which he describes as "very controversial". Leone commented that the only reason that he can be so uncompromising in his depiction of horror and gore is because he finances his movies independently, creates all the special effects himself to keep costs down, and has no big studio breathing down his neck to make the movie more mainstream.. Mia mentions the 5 year anniversary of the original massacre was coming up soon, but it took place on Halloween, and this movie taking place on Christmas 5 years later would mean the anniversary had just passed 2 months ago..
There's an uncut version of the film that's 2 hours and 25 minutes long with 5 additional scenes
Julia’s Brother: Julia, I thought I told you to stay out of my -[Art kills him with axe] . Follows Terrifier (2016). A Work of ArtWritten by Drew Fulk, Joe Occhiuti, Paul Wiley, Spencer Charnas and Steve SopchakPerformed by Ice Nine Kills and Shavo Odadjian.
But beyond that?
Too long, too disjointed, and more like a collection of random ideas strung together with duct tape. Sure, the practical gore effects are o.k. It's a hot mess.
Unfortunately, the only thing that sticks is the blood
The plot is nonexistent, the messianic arc for Sienna Shaw feels forced, and continuity has taken a backseat to shock value. It's as if Leone's trying to ride the wave of the franchise's success by throwing every half-baked idea at the screen, hoping something sticks. Art delivers another night to dismember, but as far as coherent storytelling goes?
Don't bother looking for it here
It's not horror, it's a lazy bloodbath that thinks shock value is a substitute for storytelling.. Art the Clown, Pennywise, and Killer Klowns are just a few of the comical creatures that send shivers down our spines. Check out the most terrifying clowns to grace the screen.
