Story
The Jackal is an elusive assassin who makes his living committing murders for the highest sums of money
He soon meets his match in the form of a tenacious British intelligence officer who tracks him down in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. The novel «The Day of the Jackal» is set in 1963 and involved an assassination attempt on the then French President, Charles de Gaulle.
A remake of The Day of the Jackal (1973)
The series moves the setting to the present day. Eddie Redmayne stands out in The Day of the Jackal, bringing depth and intensity to his role, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats with every move.
Lashana Lynch, however, feels a little out of place in her role here
His performance elevates the story, adding layers of intrigue that make him a compelling lead character. While talented, her performance doesn’t quite match Redmayne’s nuanced delivery, disrupting the flow and immersion at times.
A better balance between the leads could have delivered the epic impact the story deserves
This leaves us wondering about the casting choices: Could a different duo have made this series an instant classic? A stronger lead would have elevated this story… A new season of “Silo” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
